NOTICE

Simpson has received a price increase from one of its most prominent glass suppliers. This is impacting Simpson’s cost for a substantial portion of our exterior true divided lite (TDL) doors. The price increases for TDL doors are now reflected in EZQ. Fortunately, doors made with simulated divided lite (SDL) construction have NOT been effected. So while TDL and SDL doors from Simpson have been priced the same for years, you will now see a lower price by selecting a divided lite door made with SDL construction.

If you are quoting a door that has been impacted by this increase, you will be reminded with an on screen prompt, and can choose whether to continue with the quote in TDL or select to go to the same door made with SDL construction.

And with the Simpson design number system it is easy to find SDL doors. Simply look for a door that starts with "37" and that is an SDL door. For example, 37010, 37944, 37662 and some of our most popular exterior doors made with SDL construction.

Is this a big deal? 99% of homeowners cannot tell the visual difference between a door made SDL vs TDL. In addition, a door made with SDL is more energy efficient, has a much lower chance of a glass seal failure and a list of other benefits. And for those of us who sell windows, we have already seen this transition to SDL many years ago.
